Advantages of Biomass:
- Going green – huge feel good factor knowing you have cut the ties with the fuel tanker’s hose.
- Energy certainty - Being able to self-supply means you can guarantee quality, budget for enough supply and fix fuel costs, something few businesses can do.
- Become an energy trader - In combination with the RHI, being able to sell heat to tenants at perhaps 2/3rds of the cost of oil / electric gives further incomes sources, you get paid twice from your cheap fuel whilst keeping tenants happy. This can make up a substantial part of the income from these projects.
- Substantial carbon saving - Straw is considered carbon neutral when compared to fossil fuels like oil and LPG – excellent for the environment
- Reduce your fuel costs – Heating for most businesses can be a large part of their annual expenditure, Agriculture in particular can be particularly susceptible to this, especially if large, listed houses are owned which are hard to insulate or a very wet harvest results in the need to drying grain down by 5% + moisture content.
- Reduction in theft / pollution from fuel tanks - an increasing problem in rural areas, especially if the thieves deliberately drill the tanks leaving you to answer to the Environment Agency when the tank empties down the yard.
Advantages off our boilers over others:
- We supply the whole primary system; others only supply the boiler leaving you to find tank, pumps, pipework and someone to fit it all together and insulate it.
- Our boilers are designed to sit outside. Others need to be indoors meaning that building can’t be used for other uses. If you have redundant buildings why not let them out? (preferably heated!)
- Our chambers are wider than they are deep so loading is easy. Others have deep chambers making it hard to load things like logs, end on, especially using a tele handler.
- Our boilers are ignited from the back, not the front – much safer. The fuel is always between the flames and the door meaning eyebrows can remain. Others light from the front.
- In times of high demand, reloading when fuel is not quite burnt out is still possible as the fans work from the back. Others have fans and light from the front meaning reloading whilst still hot is both risky and unbalances the air flow in the chamber reducing efficiency dramatically.
- Our RHI emissions offer a much wider range of all fuel types, pass rates are some of the best out there, if OFGEM carry our inspections in the future we are much more likely to comply.
- All being well, from the point of order we can have your system producing heat for you in under 10 weeks meaning you are saving fossil fuel use and earning RHI / tenant heat rent more quickly.
- With just 2 pumps and 2 fans, these boilers are simple to use and maintain. No augers, complex electrics or other mechanical operations which can fail. Farmer proof is always the best way!
- Where estates / farms are using the boiler for grain drying there is an excellent spread of heat use across the year, over the summer months the residential units are unlikely to need much heat but in the winter, the grains stores have often completed their job for the season.
- Where estates / farms have the option of timber (of any quality) as well why not build a simple lean to pole shed and force dry the wood in there. So long as the building is ‘wholly enclosed’ you can receive RHI income on this too, getting paid to add value to your fuel.
- Due to the size of our chambers, there is no need to incur the extra cost of chipping logs (like wood chip boilers do) when it can be burnt in the round. Much easier to store, much easier to load. Much cheaper all round..
